floods politics and people

ramnarayana a tailor by profession, resident of mahaboobnagar lost his wife a few years back and is survived by two girls and three sewing machines. the three sewing machines mean everything to him. everything was fine he was saving money for the marriage of his daughter ratna in a grameen bank. then, came the blow in the form of floods that changed everything. he lost everything the money, daughter and the sewing machines

the other day ramnarayana was seen crying sitting beside one of his demolished sewing machine. that was the last anyone ever saw him he was lost maybe forever.

what i just described is just a tip of the iceberg. the condition is a lot worse. people are surrounded by nauseating stench. dead pigs in their verandah. mud and slush in their houses. these people are waiting they are desperately waiting for the officials to come to their rescue. but, wait a minute where are the officials? oh, i almost forgot the officials are busy getting the houses of rich cleaned. this is india only the rich and the elite can get their things done whatever be the situation.

the politicians are more worried about the effect of floods on their vote banks rather than its effect on people. the other day when voluntary organisations proposed to relocation of people living on the banks of river to a much safer place. there, was a roaring protest from the politicians in fear of losing their vote banks.

hoping that these people would receive the necessary help required in the near future. i dedicate this to all those people affected by the floods directly or indirectly....
